Description

Do you have a lot of favorite TV shows and even more opinions about them? Do you have something to add to the current conversation about what is good in the world of television? Do you like the idea of working from home in your pajamas?
At mxdwn Television, we are looking for writers with a strong written voice to report on television news. We pride our staff on being dedicated and self-driven reporters, and our topics range from breaking stories in TV to the rare but interesting things in current shows that nobody is talking about. This is an unpaid, part-time position. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to build a portfolio of published work and gain valuable experience in the world of TV news reporting. As long as you have a computer and trustworthy internet connection, you can work from any location. Our staff members are expected to write a new story 5 days a week and report to the editor via email each day he or she writes.
We believe in balancing what is popular in television news with what is cool and underrepresented. Our philosophy is to create an open environment in which our readers feel their favorite TV shows are given due credit. We also strive to be the equalizer between the shows that get a lot of attention such as Game of Thrones and shows that everyone underestimates like Mr. Robot. Some of the series we’ve reported on recently include The Defenders, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Mr. Robot, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, House of Cards, Westworld, and UnREAL.
For those interested in learning more about and gaining experience in the TV news writing industry, this is the opportunity for you. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Lauren Fitz at lauremf@bgsu.edu. In your cover letter, be sure to include which shows you believe are some of the best on TV right now and why. To see our site, check out http://television.mxdwn.com/.
