About the position
Crain's New York Business is looking for an intern to perform the duties of a research assistant and learn the type of research a publication conducts. The research assistant will use multiple streams of data to find and validate information. These include but are not limited to internet, surveys, legal documents, financial documents, published reports and other sources. The intern will be in charge of collecting, validating and updating information used for weekly features and special projects.

Responsibilities

- Assist with research projects and provide support to the Crain's editorial team
- Interview candidates for Crain's weekly columns like Executive Moves and Corporate Ladder
- Work on special projects, as needed

Requirements

- Completed or orking towards a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, English, business communications or communication arts.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with keen attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience/interest in Web and database maintenance
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is a plus

Skills

Required - Detail Oriented, Microsoft Office, Interview Skills, Accurate Data Entry, Comfortable working independently
Preferred - Basic HTML, basic CSS, Data Visualization
