DescriptionGlobal Treks and Adventures is an international travel company that also leads research expeditions to remote locations in order to publish field guides and visitor guides to those regions.

This internship offers you the opportunity to help conduct research from a sailboat for 8 days: January 5-12th, 2017. Follow up research will be conducted remotely from your home or university. Your work will be used in the development of a guide to that region.
RequirementsWe are currently looking for interns for the following expeditions:
Spanish Virgin Islands: In this research expedition you will be sailing among the dozens of islands that make up the archipelago known as the Spanish Virgin Islands in the heart of the Caribbean. The researchers working on this project will be focusing on exploring every bay on the islands of Vieques, Culebra, and their surround cays in order to gather information to publish a sailing guide. This includes collecting information on what can be found at each bay including, anchorage conditions, coral reef presence and health, typical marine life encountered, determine what;s on shore (facilities, restaurants, water pick up, documenting the type of habitats or village life surrounding the bays, noting any historic or significant sites, etc.
•6 Positions available. We are looking for students in all majors. Focus areas include GIS, marine life, oceanography, tourism, economics, natural sciences, travel writing/blogging, anthropology, as well as students interested in the making of a documentary of the expedition.
•Action Research at expedition destination (8 days- January 5-12, 2017).
•Mobile Research from any location (1-3 months/10 hours per week following field visit)
•Interested in earning college credit? We will work with your university to ensure that you receive 3-6 credits for your contribution to the field guide.
