About Urban Gardens
Urban Gardens covers stories about urban style, design, and nature for an international highly-engaged blog and social media audience of over 240,000. Candidates should be interested in interior design, landscape design, architecture, sustainable design, urban agriculture, cutting edge products and new concepts, and travel.
This is an unpaid remote internship for Summer and Fall 2016 offering flexible hours requiring a commitment to between five and ten hours per week with possibility for college credit. Interns will work directly with editors to receive one-on-one instruction, supervision and feedback on their writing, editing, and story ideas with the goal of creating polished, published work to build their portfolios. Interns will have opportunity to brainstorm with editor and pitch story ideas. This internship offers hands-on experience running a successful blog with an insider’s view on creative content development, social media marketing, analytics, and online advertising and sponsored content.
ResponsibilitiesResearch and write blog posts, edit editor’s drafted posts, edit (size/crop/retouch if needed) sourced or their original photography.
• Excellent writing, editing and research skills
• Ability to research, source, and edit photography using photo-editing software.
• Knowledge of WordPress
• Experience with social platforms Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram
• Strong organizational skills and attentiveness to detail
• Ability to think creatively outside the box
