DescriptionEnhances project and company effectiveness by providing information-management support; representing the attorney and the company to clients and others.
Responsibilities-Communicate with clients by email and telephone; answering or directing inquiries.
-Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics; coordinating legal document preparation.
-Conserves attorneys time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents
-Drafts letters and documents
-Collects and analyzes information
-Organizes client conferences and attorney meetings
-Schedules couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions
-Coordinating preparation of charts & graphs.
-Represents company attorney by communicating and obtaining information; following-up on delegated assignments; knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorney.
-Generates revenues by documenting and inputting attorney billable time, preparing invoices; tracking payments.
-Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential.
-Provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; recording meeting discussions; maintaining transcripts; documenting and maintaining evidence.
-Initiates email communication with potential and current clients regarding what is needed legally to operate their business properly.
-Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
-Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
RequirementsCandidate should be comfortable working in a 100% remote environment and have adequate experience speaking with business owners, upper level management and decision makers. Candidate should be patient, personable and easy to talk to. Must be highly dependable and an independent thinker with the ability to hit the ground running. Candidate should also be goal driven, ambitious, highly organized and have exceptional attention to detail. Candidate should have experience working with legal software and in a legal environment.
-College Sophomore Level or Higher (High school diploma already acquired)
-Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Political Science, or a JD, Paralegal or Legal Assistant Training or closely related field preferred
-Ability to maintain the highest confidentiality in all aspects of job responsibilities
-Excellent oral and written communication skills with college courses taken in Communication & Writing (English 101 or Equivalent)
-Highly organized with a high level of attention to detail
-Proficient computer skills with a college course taken in Computer Applications or Microsoft Office Products or similar (must know how to use word processing, ppt, excel)
-Proven people skills
-Cooperative Team Oriented Attitude
-Ability to work at least 2 hours daily M-F between 9 A.M. -6 P.M. CST.
-Ability to attend at least one weekly conference call
-Ability to work in a 100% remote environment with no face to face interaction
-Some Leadership experience ie. Team Leader, Project Leader, Student Body Leader, Manager, Fraternity or Sorority Leadership
-Experience with Legal Software such as Lexis Nexis, Westlaw
-Must be comfortable speaking with clients, and business managers, owners, CEO, COO
-2 years general office experience (work, volunteer work, internships etc)
-4 references, one college instructor, one advisor/counselor, one former manager, one of your preference (if no prior work experience 5 references will be required 1 advisor/counselor, 2 professors, 2 personal)
Candidate must reside within commuting distance of Dallas and be familiar with the Dallas metro area.
