DescriptionThe Law Offices of Susan Freedman is seeking a legal assistant for a one year position to assist in the support of a firm whose practice areas include civil and commercial litigation including matrimonial law, as well as real estate transactional law. The assistant will work in a busy, fast-paced small law firm that offers significant hands-on experience in all aspects of the practice.
The position offers an excellent growth opportunity as well as substantial business and legal training. Since the position lasts for approximately 12-14 months, it is perfect for a recent college graduate who plans on working before attending law school.
Tasks include drafting legal documents, memoranda, and other types of correspondence to clients, attorneys, and to court, as well as communicating directly with clients and other attorneys. In addition, the assistant is responsible for all aspects of administrative support. Please note that a car (or other transportation) is required for this position, as the assistant will need to go court to file documents. Overtime work is routinely required, and will be compensated accordingly.
Susan Freedman is a solo practitioner in White Plains, Westchester County with a diverse practice emphasizing real estate, matrimonial law, litigation, and mediation, and she also provides services in estates and commercial law.

RequirementsQualifications: Excellent written and verbal skills are essential, as well as an exceptional attention to detail, as this position involves substantial client interaction. Bachelor's Degree required. JD holders or current law students will not be considered.
