DescriptionAbout the Opportunity:
Our office is a general practice with two (2) attorneys and support staff located in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, NY. We are currently looking for 1 or 2 interns to join us immediately, as we are exceptionally busy. This is a great opportunity for someone who is considering going to law school and wants to get hands on experience in a law firm.
ResponsibilitiesThe intern(s) will be responsible for assisting attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of running a law office, from client intake to preparation of legal documents. The intern(s) will be exposed to all aspects of the practice, including the opportunity to attend depositions and court matters. This type of hands on experience is extremely rare in undergraduate legal internships. Intern(s) will develop a deep knowledge/understanding of the legal field and will have the opportunity to be mentored by an attorney.
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you must be eligible for academic credit, or outside funding such as law school work-study or postgraduate fellowship funding, to support your internship work. This is an unpaid internship.
We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, extremely organized and can work independently as well as with others. This individual should be well versed in all aspects of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Knowledge of the legal field is not required, but an interest and desire to learn about it is strongly preferred.
Hours are flexible between 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday. We are looking to have someone join us immediately.
