The Office for Global Engagement (formerly International Services) provides services to international students, faculty, and scholars and assists Slippery Rock University students and faculty with international study and travel. The Programming Intern will assist in developing new opportunities for Slippery Rock University students studying abroad as well as for international students. The intern will identify the needs of SRU and international students in terms of international services. Additionally, the intern will develop new programs and activities on campus and abroad for students to gain cultural knowledge and experience.

This position will provide the intern with a variety of advantageous experiences. The intern will have increased competency in marketing as well as program development and recruitment. The position will provide opportunities for the intern to learn the scope of functions of international office management, program development, and international and study abroad recruitment and advising. This intern will enhance their communication and organizational skills. Projects completed will be worthy of inclusion in the intern’s professional portfolio.


• Assist with development new programs and activities
o For SRU students studying abroad
o For international students at SRU
• Assist with Send-off Seminar
• Assist with Welcome Home Celebration
• Assist with Internations Week
• Assist with International Dinner
• Perform administrative duties including: booking, promotion, advertising events and travel
• Identify additional interests current students have in services provided by the office
o Using paper and email surveys, speaking to students, etc
• Make informational and promotional brochures and/or videos to be available to universities abroad, at Slippery Rock, and youtube


Desired Qualifications:

• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, powerpoint, and publisher programs
o Experience designing posters, brochures, information sheets, newsletters, etc
• Previous international travel and/or experience with international students
• Proficient organization skills and leadership abilities
o Experience planning and preparing for events
• Proficient at filming and editing videos
• Strong initiative and creativity in work assignments
• Excellent communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks, self-directed, efficient and responsible
