DescriptionIn this Horticulturalist internship you will focus on the design, construction, management, and maintenance of the Hillcrest Event Center. Horticulture entails knowing about the many types of plants and how each grows. It will also include elements of design and business management, as well as aspects of research and practical application. This internship will be rewarding as you will make a valuable contribution to conserving the environment and improving quality of life.
Responsibilities-Determines best methods of planting, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting
-Manages pest, disease, and weed control programs
-Analyze operational costs and financial returns of horticultural operations
-Communicate effectively with customers, work colleagues and professional groups, both orally and in writing
-Provide professional advice on the selection, ordering, planting, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and turf grasses on site??
-Plan and designs flower beds and landscape
-Maintain records on the growing operation
-Prepare orders for various types of plants and seeds?
-Inventories, maps, and labels trees and shrubs on site
-Confer with landscape architect and other related areas
-Other related duties
Requirements-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Time management, planning, and organization skills
-Love for plants and nature
-Focus of study in biology, chemistry, business, or other similar areas
