Partake in efforts directed toward sustaining a reputable and organized volunteer program that supports WaterFire Providence and its mission. Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers. Attend event preparation activities, often with management responsibilities involved. Plan and develop special events and social outings that enrich the culture and knowledge of the volunteer corps to better support the WaterFire mission. Engage in research initiatives to develop meaningful and resourceful ways to strengthen community relations and support WaterFire Providence’s need for volunteer and financial support.


WaterFire is a seasonal event, and responsibilities will vary accordingly per the discretion of WaterFire Providence administration.
•Assist in the maintenance and development of volunteer recruitment advertisements in media and print
•Assist in developing and managing orientation and training initiatives for volunteers
•Plan events that enrich the volunteer corps and WaterFire Providence’s community relations
•Tend to errand running and shopping activities related to events and volunteers
•Research and present ideas that save cost, grant funds, and generally support the Volunteerism Department and WaterFire Providence
•Communicate with volunteers via phone call, email, and in-person
•Manage small volunteer groups to complete tasks and projects related to event production
•Assist WaterFire Providence staff as needed with respect to event production and organization’s needs


Must be a confident manager and capable delegator.
Must have sound communication skills and be a great listener.
Must be responsible and have a strong sense of professionalism.
Must have genuine interest in art, culture and community, and WaterFire.
Must have a sense of humor.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Must be competent in Microsoft Office, and have general computer and internet knowledge
