DescriptionCommunity Action Kentucky is 501c3 non-profit network of 23 Community Action Agencies that work to reduce the causes and conditions of poverty. The internship will provide hands on marketing experience and result in extensive knowledge of not-for-profit programs that work to increase economic security of low and moderate income Kentuckians. The position is unpaid but competitive with the possibility of a full-time paid placement with the organization. The internship provides chosen candidates the opportunity to work alongside CAK staff on projects that have a meaningful impact. Interested candidates should email resumes to Kate@capky.org.
ResponsibilitiesDisseminating information to external customers through newsletter articles, online alerts and blogging.
Creating and updating content on the company website and social media sites.
Creating press releases.
Creating content for flyers, brochures and various outreach materials.
Writing success stories and annual reports as well as other forms of creative writing.
Providing information to external customers via phone calls.
Some data entry and administrative work.
Support projects for program directors.
RequirementsOrganization and professionalism is key in all functions of this highly visible role. Working in a team environment, the Marketing/Community Services Intern will be required to work well with others in an office setting as well as be able to efficiently complete tasks independently. The Marketing/Community Services Intern will create independent projects as well as support multiple program directors.
The Marketing/Community Services Intern must have strong interpersonal communication skills both over the phone and in-person. The Marketing/Community Services Intern is expected to be able to type and proficiently operate computer-based applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Vast experience with creative writing and social media is necessary. The Marketing/Community Services Intern should be able to dress conservatively, appropriately and professionally. No task should be seen as too large or too small and a positive attitude is a must. Candidates must be committed to maintaining a consistent schedule. The Marketing/Community Services Intern should possess the ability to multi-task, switch gears quickly and have excellent follow through. It is necessary that the Marketing/Community Services Intern be able to take initiative and not require extensive oversight. Ingenuity is valued.
