Digital Media & Marketing Internship

Undiscovered Kitchen (UDK) is an interactive, ecommerce platform and discovery marketplace for small batch, artisan food products from all around the country and world. Launching in 2014 we are looking for an extremely driven digital media and marketing intern to join the team. You will be responsible for developing the company’s digital media strategies and managing the brand’s complete online presence. The main objectives are to grow the UDK social communities online and create highly engaging content.

This role requires an extremely assertive, creative, independent and entrepreneurial individual who will bring value to the company by initiating and successfully executing marketing and social campaigns. As a part of the team you will get the chance to work with and launch the company from the ground level – managing both the pre and post launch digital media campaigns. Your work will directly affect the company’s growth - You will set goals and be expected to work hard, care about your work and drive results. This internship starts immediately through May/June 2014 with opportunity for growth. Looking for an applicant in the Boston area but open to strong virtual applicants. The position would include occasional in-person meetings (or Skype) but is remote the majority of time.

Blog Management & Marketing
- Create and maintain the UDK blogging strategy and content calendar
- Actively contribute to the UDK blog
- Reach out to and interview vendors for company spotlight posts and behind the scenes articles
- Optimize posts for social sharing
- Blog marketing & outreach

Social Media Marketing
- Create, track and analyze the UDK social media strategy
- Create highly engaging content for Twitter & Facebook
- Grow the UDK Pinterest community and track engagement levels
- Manage customer interactions, inquires and problems via social
- Create and manage unique promotional campaigns including social media contests

Influencer Outreach
- Develop relationships with key influencers & leaders in the artisan industry & foodie community
- Develop and maintain the UDK monthly elite PR calendar & outreach

Email marketing
- Develop, maintain and analyze the UDK email marketing strategy
- Manage the UDK email marketing content calendar
- Create highly engaging content for the UDK newsletter and promotional campaigns
- Track email analytics and strategy effectiveness
- Follow and maintain a level of best practices
- Continuously propose new ideas to increase engagement

Web analytics
- Track & analyze social media and digital campaigns through Google Analytics
- Create & monitor customer segments and set up website conversation funnels
- Develop a weekly report analyzing website and social media stats and current digital campaigns

Admin & misc.
- Admin support
- Misc tasks and projects
- Customer assistance


The perfect candidate:

- Bachelor’s degree or is currently a full time student (min senior level)
- Social media management experience
- Online community management experience
- Active personal social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest…)
- Excellent writing, grammar and communication skills
- The ability to communicate ideas in a concise and effective manner both written and verbally
- The ability to take initiative
- A passionate and entrepreneurial personality
- Ability to take criticism & feedback positively
- Proactive team member
- Strong work ethic
- Attention to deadlines, details and relationship management
- Interest in artisan food and small, startup businesses
