DescriptionAs the focal point of performing arts activity in South Florida, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County serves as a showcase for the finest in established and developing performing arts programs. The Center is the foundation on which established resident organizations build their programs and extend their reach. The Center also serves as a laboratory, providing first class accessible facilities for smaller, emerging and developing organizations and for the Center’s own innovative productions and events.
The Center provides our diverse audiences with opportunities to share South Florida's many cultures, offering insights and understanding. As an educational resource, the Center broadens the horizons of our children and enhances our quality of life by offering a full range of cultural learning experiences.
ResponsibilitiesFrom street fairs to flash mobs, the Promotions Intern assists the Promotions Manager with event planning, scheduling, coordinating and executing various Arsht Center promotions.
Interns can expect to be introduced to all facets of performing arts marketing including, but not limited to: promotional and outreach events, planning schedules, developing ideas, working with programmers and presenters, and planning communication strategies for promotions. Interns will learn about the challenges and rewards of the creative process, as the underpinning of The Adrienne Arsht Center, while supporting the advertising, promotion, e-commerce, creative, administrative and planning sector of the Center. Examples of projects interns will be involved with include, but are not limited to: media research, trafficking ads, social media property maintenance, newsletter copy writing and editing, promotional event support, and developing new promotional partners and relationships.
As a Promotions Intern, you may just find yourself:
• Dressed in 1970s disco gear passing out flyers and mardi gras beads to clubgoers on South Beach.
• Assisting the Promotions Manager with the arrival of a horse and carriage for a special event.
• Sewing a costume on a dancer before a half-time show stunt at a HEAT game.
• Driving to the Miami Metro Zoo to represent the Arsht Center at Feasts with the Beasts.
• and so much more!
RequirementsInternships are offered for all academic semesters to Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students. Hours are flexible, with a suggested 16 hour per week minimum. Evenings and weekends are required. Individual must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
At this time the Adrienne Arsht Center does not offer paid Internships.
Internships may be eligible for academic credit, check with your school’s academic advisor.
