Creating Ties is a student travel organization offering community and sustainable service learning programs for high school, college and graduate students in Peru. Our programs provide hands on learning opportunities for students with a focus on developing new skills in various areas of sustainability such as alternative energy, agriculture, composting bathrooms, education, language immersion and business. We also offer tailored-made opportunities for student teaching, internships, study abroad, faculty led trips and gap year. Additionally, we offer professional development programs in various fields including culinary, textile, photography and green architecture. It is our mission to provide students of all ages with sustainable service learning opportunities to promote and inspire them to become the social entrepreneurs of the future.
Creating Ties is looking for a marketing communications intern to assist in the company’s public relations, marketing and social media efforts. We are a company that operates remotely so interns must be able to work independently, take initiative, be resourceful and meet deadlines. Despite the remote locations, we work closely as a team so interns must be team players and bring new creative ideas to the table and submit work at our weekly meetings.
· Collaborate with other interns to complete projects
· Monitor all forms of media
· Write press releases and other materials
· Create or update databases
· Update all social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest and
Students Circle Network
· Create media lists and follow up with the media
· Create marketing lists and aid in creative marketing efforts
· Additional administrative duties as required
· Attend weekly meetings to submit projects (location TBD)
Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Applicants must have the ability to learn quickly, be self-motivated, resourceful and take initiative. We are looking for someone that is creative and thinks outside the box. It is important that this person is organized, can meet deadlines and is able to work independently and with a team. Lastly, applicants must have advanced knowledge of social media channels and a passion for travel and social change.
