DescriptionMacaroni Kid Downtown & South Kansas City is a free, weekly publication for families. While our main focus is our events calendar, we also dish the scoop on the best venues, restaurants, getaways, and information pertaining kids and families in our community. We currently have over 3,000 subscribers to our e-newsletter, 1,200 social media followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest, and also, have followers who don’t subscribe but who frequent our site daily.
We are looking for someone to start working with us this fall. We would like for you to commit to 10-15 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks; however, we are flexible with your needs. We are looking to start our hiring process for our fall interns. You can be interested in working with us for just the fall or the entire school year!
This position is very flexible and the majority of the position will be done from your own home. We are a smaller, online, startup business, and we're looking for an intern who wants to shine! Once a week, we'll set up a time to meet to discuss responsibilities for that week and see how things are going for you. We will provide counsel and guidance to you, and as we discuss the business, we hope to see you add your own thoughts and ideas. Our goal is to help you further your skills and knowledge in the event planning/ marketing field.

ResponsibilitiesDescription of position:
We are looking for a marketing / event intern to help create the ultimate exposure for our free publication for families.
Some of your responsibilities:
-Live event marketing - attending local events and setting up our booth
-Writing copy for website
-Event scout for website
-Contacting clients and potential clients
-Assembling guides for our website
-Boost overall exposure of our site to the Kansas City area
-Enthusiastic, positive, motivated and outgoing
-Can work independently and with a team
-Must have own transportation
-Must have own computer and internet access
-Must have own phone
-Must have strong communications and grammar skills
-Ideally be able to work approximately 15-20 hours a week for at least 12 weeks (we are flexible)
This is an unpaid internship; however, we believe you will gain outstanding knowledge to help you further your career. You'll gain valuable experience through this internship, which will strengthen your resume, and you'll have fun! We can also sign off on school credit, and at the end of the successful internship, we would be happy to write you a stellar letter of recommendation. Extra bonus: We also get press tickets to venues/ events, movie premiere passes, press party invitations, etc. from time to time, and we'll gladly hook you up when we can!
