The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world. Founded in 1876, our mission is to share our vision of the importance of libraries, literacy and free access to information. ALA offers professional services and publications to members and nonmembers, including online news stories from American Libraries and analysis of crucial issues from our Washington Office. Our main office is located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast, right off of Michigan Ave, with satellite offices in Washington, DC, Connecticut, and Philadelphia.

This internship will work with the Membership Development area of the Communications & Membership Relations department in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist the manager with marketing and communications projects dealing with member acquisition and member retention goals including: direct mail and email campaigns, market research and data set building for direct mail. Intern will assist the editor of a student e-newsletter by generating copy for a student e-newsletter and assisting with production. Will also provide general office assistance.

Requirements


Requires copy writing, excellent writing skills, MS Office. Ideal intern’s major area of study should be Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business, or Non-profit Management.
