DescriptionThe communications intern will work directly with our New Horizons of Wisconsin's Excellence Team, under our Senior Marketing & Graphic Designer. This intern will participate in a variety of activities including customer service, research & writing, planning, blogging, web-based/office projects, and other activities.
This internship will involve a heavy emphasis on working close with our Senior Marketing Designer, working on research, content, customer service, writing, planning, and other activities. All undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply. Successful applicants will be bright, ambitious self-starters with an interest in marketing and communications. Excellent writing skills and online media experience are required.

Open-morning into afternoon schedules preferred. This is a non-paid internship that can turn into a career after a few months, although if you want us to sign on hours/job duties to fulfill a requirement for a class/towards your degree, we are open to doing so. Tests website accessibility and functionality from a variety of environments.
Manages links, social media sites, cross-promotions and improvements to SEO.
Works with Senior Marketing Designer to develop new content for our growing products and service offerings.
In conjunction with marketing, creates enhancements and modifications to the website.
Participates as needed in special department projects.
Assisting students and testers that come in to take classes and setting up their work stations.
Maintaining and updating media lists.
Uploading web content, photos and video.
Answer phones, e-mail, and return messages as appropriate.
Write keyword rich, technical press releases about new products and company/industry news.
Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint and completing other office duties as assigned.
Manages the greeting area to insure effective communications both internally and externally to support our professional image.
RequirementsAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Flexibility and ability to work independently
Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Preferred major in Communications/Marketing, or equivalent work experience. Other majors will still be viewed as well.
Some marketing, communications or prior media experience a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong organizational skills required.
Must be able to juggle multiple projects on a daily basis.
Must be able to work without supervision and under tight deadlines.
Creative ability to perform responsibilities efficiently, effectively and accurately.
Industry knowledge and passion for training and learning strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of social media
Good communication (oral and written), detail-oriented, efficient, and pro-active skills
Professionalism with strong work ethic and excellent attendance
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
