Boston Building Resources is a green-minded social enterprise located at 100 Terrace St, Roxbury Crossing . We are seeking one or two part time marketing interns to help us expand outreach, communications and community engagement.
We run two types of retail businesses. We operate a Reuse Center which is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the dual mission of keeping reusable home building and improvement materials out of the solid waste stream and helping low- and moderate-income homeowners repair and maintain their homes. We also run training workshops to help neighborhood members improve the energy efficiency of their homes and, through our Cooperative, provide kitchen design services and other home improvement products.
We have a core team of committed staff who are fun to work with! We are seeking interns either in the summer or during the school year who share our passion for our mission and are ready to pitch in on a wide variety of projects while building your marketing experience.


Here are some examples of projects you could work on:
• Event planning and coordination:
• Community outreach
o Farmer’s markets on Saturdays
o other community and neighborhood engagement events
• Publicity and public relations
o Add online listings for events to news web sites, including and local Patch sites
o Develop news stories of interest to local websites and news sources
• Photography
o Take digital photos of donated items in warehouse such as windows , light fixtures and cabinets, and of completed kitchens of co-op members
• Social Media
o Helping to extend our existing presence on Pinterest and Houzz to reach more potential customers.
• Video
o Helping to produce an organizational video in collaboration with Artists for Humanity
• Writing
o Research and write articles for newsletter and blog articles, including customer interviews and technical articles on home improvement.


Hours: 10 to 20 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 weeks and up to 3 months. Some weekend hours.
The position will be unpaid, but we offer compensation for your travel expenses. We will be ready to discuss work scheduling with some flexibility for interns who are combining this position with other summer work or course work responsibilities.
Candidates need to have completed at least two years of college studies. We are looking for an interest in our social mission, as well as strong oral communication and writing skills, the organizational capability to handle multiple projects at once, knowledge of social media, and an interest in customer outreach and in meeting and interviewing new people. Candidates with digital and photography skills would be particularly valued. Reliability and personal integrity are essential. Previous course work in marketing and graphic design, or an interest in home repair and improvement, would an added strength. Responsibilities will depend on your experience and initiative.
