Derrick Simmons Film Works is a small production company based in NYC. Our Internship Program will provide students a carefully monitored work experience with the ability to learn valuable skills relevant to their particular area of study. Students will experience an educational work environment with proper training and will ultimately take with them practical real-world business experiences taught and shared by our current Derrick Simmons Film Works employees. Students will complete their assignment being adequately prepared for an entry-level position in their field.


Prepare marketing and press materials for distribution
Maintain contact lists to help cultivate working relationships between organizations
Assist in fulfilling contracts between the Derrick Simmons FilmWorks and sponsors/advertisers
Research, devise and execute creative promotional strategies on the designated studio films and recordings to the local market
Answer phones and manage incoming/outgoing phone calls
A general understanding of music publishing and copyright
Have a sound appreciation of *All* musical genres
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Assist with promotional and word of mouth screenings (evenings and weekends)
Work effectively under pressure and within deadlines.
Must be available for evening screenings and weekend events
Previous work experience with labels and/or entertainment companies appreciated
Write detailed reports and take photos of events/promo

Candidates must have an educational or vocational background in the music business, media, film, and/or mass communications.


Derrick Simmons FilmWorks is seeking highly organized, energetic, reliable, independent, detailed oriented and very creative interns. This internship is designed to give interns insight into the workings of an entertainment company and on how to cultivate relationships in the film and recording industries.
