DescriptionHeart House is a free afterschool program for at-risk childern in a low-income, densely populated neighborhood of Dallas. Our mission is to provide a safe haven and academic support to at-risk children whilen encouraging them to become good citizens.
We need an intern to help us spread awareness about the work we are doing and to help us increase our following on social media sites. The ideal candidate will be able to help us turn those followers into active supporters/volunteers for the organization. LOCAL APPLICANTS will be given preference.
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Schedule: January-May; June-August; September-December
Goal of Internship: Enhance knowledge and skills necessary for the design and use of social media, marketing, and communications concepts in a nonprofit office environment.
Objectives: On completion of the internship, the intern should possess the following skills:
-Able to develop interactive marketing communications including the creation and editing of social media pages such as (Facebook, Twitter, Google blog) and updates to Wordpress website
-Able to create content for monthly newsletters through Constant Contact
ResponsibilitiesProducing monthly newsletters through Constant Contact
Maintaining all social media: Facebook, Twitter, Google Blog, Website under supervision of Volunteer Coordinator
Creating promo pieces, videos, PowerPoint presentations highlighting our program and achievements
Helping plan/market events
RequirementsEducational Requirements: Intern must be a Junior or Senior in college. A GPA of 3.0 or higher plus 1 year of relevant work or classroom experience preferred. (Previous internships may be included).
-Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Public Relations/Communications/Advertising or related field in an accredited college or university
-Available to work 3 days per week for a total of 20 hours.
-Must possess working knowledge of social media applications including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google blog.
-Working knowledge of Photoshop or Adobe InDesign preferred.
