DescriptionAs our Public Relations/Advocacy Cordinator, you'll use your strong writing, editing and speaking skills (for phone outreach) to help build momentum in the wake of our recent 12-year anniversary championing the Middle East/North Africa in Southern California.
The Levantine Cultural Center (LCC) champions a greater understanding of the Middle East and North Africa by presenting artistic and educational programs that bridge political and religious divides. Whether the wars/occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the troubled relationship with Iran, the changing politics of Lebanon, Egypt or Turkey, or the cultures of North Africa, this region of the world is often in the news. The LCC is the only pan-cultural institution of its kind and serves to help make sense of the MENA (Middle East/North Africa) through innovative arts and educational programming.

ResponsibilitiesIn this position you will work directly with the director on all the facets of promoting a busy nonprofit organization in terms of maintaining existing contacts and reaching out to new media outlets, as well as engaging in advocacy activities with city, county, state and federal officials. This is a multidisplinary experience. MAC and/or PC skills with Microsoft Office desirable. Familiarity with Arabic, Farsi or other Middle Eastern language is helpful but optional. Flexible schedule, 16-20 hours per week. Includes fringe benefits.In this job you will contact media representatives and a variety of like-minded organizations for grassroots outreach, and generally use the principles of guerrilla marketing.
