Barker Bariatric Center is currently looking to fill internship positions with focus on social media content, emphasizing patient education. BBC is looking for a results-driven, entrepreneurial thinker; someone who quickly sees opportunities in the social media marketplace; sees the social media marketplace as a "moving target" and can act/implement strategies to stay ahead of curve.

Dr. Barker is a highly regarded weight-loss surgeon and has helped patients achieve dramatic weight-loss results for more than 15 years. He is one of a select group of bariatric surgeons who perform all five bariatric procedures. Dr. Barker is co-founder of Forest Park Medical Center a full-service acute care hospital. He also holds privileges at several hospitals in the DFW area including Doctors Hospital, Pinecreek Medical Center, and Presbyterian Dallas. Dr. Barker sees patients at his Dallas, Amarillo and Lubbock offices.
Barker Bariatric Center currently has 2 surgeons (Dr. Brewer, Dr. Hodges) and 1 primary care doctor (Dr. Thompson).
ResponsibilitiesAssisting in the creation and implementation of strategies and directions the company will pursue. Activities are focused in existing social networks by which the individual will develop communities or create proprietary ones within the business’ structure.
Assisting in the coordination of marketing events with online activity and tracks the analytics of social media influence, more commonly associated with twitter and other social media distribution channels.
Assisting in the conversations taking place throughout the communities the business is participating in.
RequirementsApplicant must be currently enrolled and working towards, or have recently completed, a college degree related to Business, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations.
Applicant must be willing to dedicate a minimum of 15hrs/week . A computer can be made available, but depending on personal preference and specific job requirements, applicants may be allowed personal computer. This internship is non-paid, and does require monitoring of social websites outside business hours or at home along with communication to marketing director on a daily, weekly basis as social sites are updated.
Applicant must have adequate transportation to and from our Dallas office.
