We are a start-up company located in San Francisco. As you may have guessed, our business focuses on creating digital receipts for our clients and providing them with a best in class service. We are still in the pre-funding stages of our company, which means there is plenty of work to get done prior to meeting with our venture capitalists. Our goal is to capture funding within the next 6-12 months, so I (the CEO) am looking to continue building out a small, but dependable strategy team that will have a true impact on the launch of the company.

At this time, I am looking for some assistance in building out the business case both for our funding proposals and for our prospective clients. This type of work will include market research, quantitative and qualitative analysis , competitive analysis (researching our competitors), pricing optimization, and cost/benefit analysis.

At this time, this is an unpaid internship, but you will be given every opportunity to prove yourself. In 6-12 months you will be happy that you busted your rear-end for me, guaranteed.


Conducts data gathering and quantitative analysis.
Conducts special financial analyses requiring cross-departmental coordination.
Performs financial and economic research and analyzes issues related to specific financial metrics.
Compiles and/or prepares reports, graphs, charts and presentations of data.
Recommends changes to analytical methods or procedures.
Assists and supervises Analysts in the daily preparation and conduct of their work.
Participates in the development of strategic and operational recommendations.


Becoming a successful business analyst takes core business skills and specialized knowledge that will advance a firm’s objectives, and contribute to its remaining competitiveness in a complex economy. These core skills include:

Written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills.
Understanding of systems engineering concepts (not required)
The ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis
Business case development
Modeling techniques and methods
Proficiency with Microsoft Office & PowerPoint
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines
