DescriptionIMIO is a closely-held, Chicago-based financial services company that invests in startups and turnarounds. In our technology practice, we currently have seven portfolio companies that offer a wide range of products and services. Most are in Chicago, but we have investments in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well.
This internship is specific to one of our most promising start-ups. The intern will be responsible for client acquisition, managing ad campaigns, and content creation. You will have the opportunity to experience how a startup operates on a day-to-day basis and gain one-of-a-kind business experience. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in breaking into the business or entrepreneurship spheres in Chicago.
ResponsibilitiesPrimarily, you should be a great thinker and written communicator. You should be inquisitive about the world around you. You should have an interest in storytelling and writing copy that gets people to jump in their seats. You should appreciate the value of clarity and simplicity and the difficulty in achieving both.
You should be able to work on multiple projects at the same time and stay organized. You should know how to conduct web-based research and you should have a strong knowledge of social networks.
We believe that the principle value of an internship, regardless of what you’re paid, is the experience you gain – as such, we have high expectations. We also have a fun, energetic environment.
RequirementsThese positions are initially unpaid, but have bonus opportunities. After 90 days, we intend to convert these into paid positions with a $400 per week stipend. We’re certainly happy to support you in receiving course credit, if that applies. We’re looking for a commitment of at least 20 hours per week at our offices (in the Loop).
We’re seeking exceptional students (or recent grads) with a background in marketing, public relations, and/or journalism who specifically have an interest in technology and startups. We have products in mobile, geo-location, social media marketing, and charity fund-raising. There are also a couple very exciting products being developed in “stealth mode.”
