Description

The Payne Mansion is an 1881 Historic SF Mansion that has undergone over $7M in renovations since 2004. It offers 10 luxury hotel rooms, a 300 standing/150-200 seated event space, 2 professional chef's kitchens and a private club that can accommodate 35/35 or 70 total.

I am looking for an assistant who can help me set up systems, respond to inquiries, create templates, spreadsheets, track and record inquiries, show the space, answer phone and email inquiries, create flyers, marketing pieces, photo organizing, contact files, correspondence, thinking on their feet, comfortable around strangers, guests, prospects, CEOs, Planners, Directors, etc...

This is a great opportunity for anyone seeking employment in the Hospitality Industry, or any industry requiring sales & marketing, networking, schmoozing, and working with the public. This is not event planning, we leave that up to the professional planners our guests use and our preferred providers. It is painting pictures of all the possibilities this amazing venue has to offer. This position is also an afternoon and some evenings, mornings are not required but may be necessary in extreme situations, accommodations may be offered in the event of a very late night or very early morning.

This is a fun place to work, we are building a great team and are always looking for team players. The candidate may also be considered for full employment if the fit is a good one. Dress is business casual and sometimes dress up. We also are implementing a Monthly Artist in Residence Program that may offer some cash incentives. A successful internship will garner the applicant with real world experience in varying situations from Weddings to Corporate Events to Reunions, Movie Sets, Photo Shoots, Trade shows, showcases, family reunions, Alumni, Political and a vast array of fundraising events as well. You'll meet and interact with CEOs, Executive secretaries, planners, vendors, chef's, clients, guests, decorators, bartenders, Winery Owners, wait staff, Artists of all kinds, Celebrities, to name just a few. I expect the candidate to treat everyone of them as if they were the most important person at that time. Needless to say, this position offers great growth and learning potential for the right person. And successful candidates will have unfettered access to my extensive LinkedIn Accounts for any future employment needs and/or opportunities, I will also offer ongoing introductions, advice, mentoring and a referral letter to the successfully completed intern.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: notifying me of any time sensitive issues or communications, the ability to understand a task and run with it unattended, comfortable around strangers and able to act as a host, taking clients and prospects on tours of the mansion, explain the history, paint mental pictures, answer questions, follow up! The ability and willingness to make decisions when necessary and run with a project to completion. This person would report to me.

Requirements

MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, Googledocs, ICloud, Pages, Numbers, KeyNote, IPhoto (we are a Mac house but utilize MS and Google systems frequently), clean, presentable, friendly, outgoing, eager to learn (I provide networking opportunities, parties, seminars, meetings for them to learn from and enjoy), eager to help, self starter, able to work unattended with deliverables, English proficiency, incorrect use of the words "like", "your vs. you're", the use of "Dude" etc., are all unacceptable, spelling and pride in what they put their name to is also very important to me. Foreign languages are a plus! Art appreciation, wine knowledge, hospitality, customer service are also pluses.
A good or great grasp of social media and posting is also a must have. Graphics skills and an eye for design would be great as well.
