DescriptionInternship Commercial Business Insurance. You would be expected to learn how to manage a cloud based prospecting and tracking program and how to use the Internet and social media programs to data mine and input the info into the tracking program. You will be expected to learn the communication skills needed to work with clients whose premiums may be as much as $700,000. Your skill set should include a great deal of computer usage skills. This would be great for a recent college graduate or someone who has at least 2 years of college. You need to be willing to take an unpaid internship during the training phase with the hopes of getting paid after the training period and working in an industry that has the potential of providing a highly paid future, if you are willing to make the sacrifices needed to develop as a commerical insurance producer. You will be willing to take on line or classroom (I will pay for the courses) courses specifically for the business insurance industry. There is a possibility of this being part time during the training period.
This position is also an excellent gateway to jobs in the area of Safety Loss Control, Claims Adjusting and Underwriting. Look up the UT San Diego article in the 5/Sunday May 6 business section page C2 to help you answer whether or not you should consider an intern position.
