DescriptionSchools for Children, a nonprofit organization, is committed to building and growing schools and programs where learning takes many forms and where the needs and talents of each individual child is respected. We currently manage three private schools and a professional development and training program.
We seek a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a well-known nonprofit organization.
Position can be located at the office of off, if not at office regular meetings and check-ins will be scheduled.
ResponsibilitiesUpdate and maintain social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, scheduling and reporting on Twitter, Facebook, LInkedIn and Vimeo
Assist in planning, writing and managing e-blasts and e-newsletters
Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
Manage editorial and event calendars
Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material
Update the organization’s website regularly
Create comprehensive database of targeted businesses and community
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and
Prepare weekly reports and maintain regular contact with supervisor
RequirementsFirm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up), preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations)
Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications a plus
Understanding of the basic principles of public relations and/or marketing
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint,
Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired.
Knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design a plus
Posses excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
Ability to work well independently, and within a team
