Description

A leading global trade association promoting travel and tourism to Africa seeks an intern knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape. In addition to having a strong interest of and about the African diaspora, tourism and travel, we are seeking a top-quality candidate with excellent social media skills, digital communication skills, and organizational skills. The intern will have a unique opportunity to work with senior team members to help shape the digital voice of the association, while building relationships with key decision makers.

Responsibilities:

Work with senior team members overseeing daily engagement, supervision and management of brand's digital platforms including Twitter, Facebook, newsletter, and more.
Assist with content calendar creation and maintenance, compiling content and images provided for brand communication.
Manage daily communication of brands by scheduling posts provided by team members.
Extensive research to help identify and curate content for the brands various platforms.
Brainstorm creative platform ideas with brand’s team to enhance platform investment.
Monitor and continue to explore new social media trends, implement when needed.
Compile monthly analytics reporting documents with key findings and highlights.
Must get to know the communities – identify ‘super fans’, ‘brand advocates’ etc.
Respond to questions/messages in the voice of the brand.
Participate in conference calls and meetings as needed.

Qualities We Seek:

A passion for Africa and the African diaspora
A passion for social media
Familiarity with news, entertainment, and lifestyle focused websites, blogs, online communities targeting individual with in Africa
Excellent organizational skills, writing skills and attention to detail
Effective communication
Experience using Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, & Snapchat
Experience with Facebook Analytics and Google Analytics or willingness to learn
Composed, diligent, intelligent, flexible
Able to meet deadlines & manage time/projects efficiently
Graphic design and working knowledge of photoshop are a plus
