Description—Globally recognized natural health website, AsktheDentist.com, is looking for a highly motivated digital marketing assistant.
—Currently, we're in a rapid growth phase (growing at a pace of 150% year over year for the last 3 years) and in this role, you'll hit the ground running to help us with our digital marketing and monetization efforts.
—Unpaid position but school credit, hands-on experience, and references will be provided. You will see first-hand how a successful blog is run and be a valuable part of the team in growing this success.
—10-20 hours per week
—We are a father-daughter team based in the Silicon Valley, California. You will report to the co-founder and head of marketing.
—This position is remote.
—If you want to learn how to become a badass digital marketing associate, you'll learn it hands-on in this internship.
Responsibilities—Running social media accounts (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
—Edit blog posts with sometimes complex health topics to make them layperson-friendly, skimmable, with a conversational tone, and easy to read and digest
—Provide suggestions to content marketing strategy by analyzing data in Google Analytics and looking at most successful blog posts to-date
—Run link-building campaigns to drive traffic, promote the blog, and improve SEO
—Send weekly email newsletters with Aweber (similar tool to Mailchimp)
—Create simple, beautiful graphics in Canva
Requirements— Excellent computer skills
—Basic graphic design skills
—Knowledge of SEO basics
—Complete home office setup with fast computer and fast internet
— Experience with blogging tools (Canva, Google Drive, Google Analytics, Aweber, Mailchimp, SEOmoz, etc), and ability to learn new applications quickly
—Basic knowledge of HTML (you know what embed code is and how to use it and can troubleshoot basic issues)
— Internet research ninja. If you don't know how to do something, you know how to Google it and figure it out yourself.
— Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You must be able to express yourself with clarity, professionalism, and proper grammar, syntax and style.
— Highly organized, structured, and self-directed. You are someone that thrives on creating order from chaos, creating efficient and trackable systems, and loves to check things off of your to-do list.
— Accountable: You are not afraid of receiving constructive feedback, owning your mistakes. You see mistakes as opportunities to improve your own performance and reliability. You work independently, but if you need more info you aren’t afraid to ask for it, and if you’re waiting to hear back from someone you aren’t afraid to follow-up with them (tactfully and respectfully) until the job is done. If you're assigned a task, you take full ownership of it.
— Discretion: As the blog is for a public figure, you must also be capable of protecting his privacy and possess strong discretion and integrity.
— Can-do attitude: When confronted with a challenge, your first response is never “no”, or “it can’t be done”, but “how can I find a way to make this happen?”
— Shared vision and purpose: We’d like to hire someone that shares Dr. Burhenne's vision for creating a healthier world through better sleep, nutrition, ancestral health, the mouth-body connection, and functional medicine.
— Proactive, creative thinker: You should not just wait to be asked for everything. You should strive to understand the big picture, try to anticipate needs, prevent problems, and make proactive suggestions that help prevent the co-founders from getting distracted from their highest level tasks.
—Desire for growth: You want this internship to build your skills and benefit from mentorship from the co-founder.
