Are you looking to make a difference in the world around you? The Alzheimer's Association is the leading, global voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care and support, and the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research.
The Huntsville office is a part of the Mid South Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. We are looking for someone who can help us promote our mission through marketing and public relations. The position is unpaid. The intern will report to the Senior Manager of Development. Start Date is ASAP. Completion date will be determined once applicant is accepted.


Research, locate and secure a media sponsor for our annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Scout and recruit new potential sponsors and team captains
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
Scout and recruit new volunteer groups for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s


Pursuing BS/BA
Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher
Prefer junior or senior, but will consider other class levels
Must commit a minimum 6 hours per week
An interest in media and public relations, non-profits and building professional relationships
Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills are preferred
Must live in Calhoun/Cherokee/Etowah/St. Clair Counties in Alabama.
Must be able to work well with a diverse group of people
Must be comfortable with cold calling and speaking with strangers
Must adhere to HIPPA laws dealing with confidentiality
Must be able to work without constant direct supervision
Must send weekly reports to the Senior Manager of Development detailing progress of the week


Required - Microsoft Office, Social Media, Google Docs, Proficient Typing Skills, American English
Preferred - Public Speaking, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Instagram, Google Apps, High level of initiative, Convio
