Description

We are an unusual and successful film and contemporary art gallery that also has a film criticism website, with a brick and mortar showroom in Reston VA in search of a marketing, retail, PR, and social media intern. We have a number of exclusive proprietary projects with artists who have a history of working at the film studios. We also run a website focused on women in film, animation, and film in general, both indie and blockbuster. This unpaid position requires A YEAR-LONG COMMITMENT of 14 hours a week, including one weekday and Saturdays. Learn about and gain experience in small business, marketing art, pop culture, and the film industry . You will be able to gain hands-on experience working in a professional artist/ small business/ gallery environment with 20+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

Assisting in developing content and maintaining company websites for film criticism, artist projects, and online gallery, client newsletters, and social media marketing, Maintaining up-to-date customer and prospect records, General gallery work (answering phones, organizing, maintenance), Assisting in exhibition openings and special events, Art packaging and handling, Assisting in installation and de-installation of exhibitions

Requirements

former retail experience, knowledge of the history of film, interest in art
