DescriptionWHO WE ARE: Surge Institute was established to broadly address issues of race and class in urban education through leadership development, technical assistance and advocacy. The Surge Fellowship, the signature of the Surge Institute, is a one-year fellowship for emerging leaders of color working in education in the Chicago metropolitan area. This fellowship inspires and accelerates the trajectory of these leaders so they may bring new ideas, perspectives, and solutions to change the landscape of education. By training, connecting, supporting and elevating high-capacity African-American and Latino leaders across organizations, Surge aims to dramatically improve education options and outcomes for low-income children. REQUIREMENTS: This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment with a start-up organization, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of integrated marketing communications. We seek an intern who can participate in various stages of print and online marketing campaigns; communications support for front-line Fellowship admissions and expansion of the Surge Brand.
TERM: 6-month internship; 15-20 hours per week.
COMPENSATION: Interns will receive a $600 stipend upon successful completion of their internship. Surge Institute reimburses for any extraneous business expenses incurred. The Surge Institute provides interns the opportunity to develop critical skills and gain practical experience while working on significant projects to further the mission of the Surge Institute.
• Assist in the creation of signage, circulars, mock ups, e-mail campaigns, invitations on line promotion, etc.
• Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials
• Perform analysis and maintain marketing, sales, social media and Google Analytics data and earned media activity
• Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials both on and offline
• Prepare presentations
• Provide support to social media efforts
RequirementsEducation and/or experience creating and supporting marketing campaigns in fast paced, results-oriented environment
