Description

Higgins Hope is a 501(c) non-profit organization which provides individualized programs of care for females 18-25 who are victims of sex trafficking in Northern Virginia. Additionally provided is shelter for these women and their children. Higgins Hope currently has a single multi-bedroom housing unit that is used for this purpose, with expansion plans as funds are raised.

We are seeking a marketing/fundraising intern (unpaid) to support:
- Fundraising efforts
- Social media efforts to target new supporters
- email campaigns
- Grant applications
- Research and analyze fundraising sources
- Promote, Set up, and work at fundraising activities

Responsibilities

This intern will be responsible for writing fundraising letters and delivering to the appropriate sources and maintain all records in this regard and provide follow up as applicable. Additionally, will be responsible for filing grant applications, ensuring all requirements are met and applications are filed in a timely manner. Will perform internet searches to find new fundraising sources/grants. Will work at fundraising events and may be assigned tasking at the residential facility.

Requirements

- Must be interested in supporting human rights
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be high energy, able to adapt quickly, and be a quick learner
- Must have own transportation and portable computer
- Must be very detail oriented
