DescriptionArt2Defy is a newly registered organization headquartered out of New York with the motto of “activism through art.” Our focus is on the refugee crisis in the Middle East and so, as our title implies, we host events nationally with a focus on art such as galleries. Previously we have only utilized canvas arts (created by refugees or by supporters of raising awareness for the crisis) however we want to shift a portion of our focus to the performing arts. To kickstart our campaign we decided to host a music festival in which we plan on having around 20-30 thousand attendees.
While we are headquartered out of New York, we have a very active operation in St. Petersburg where we were founded. With this being said, the ideal location of the music festival will be in Florida, preferably at the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park and Campground.
Besides organizing events such as these (which include the procurement of corporate sponsors, vendors, equipment, musicians, various marketing strategies, food, etc.) we are constantly managing an incoming flow of new art pieces and art galleries around Florida and New York.
We are looking for 3 business/marketing students for an unpaid part-time internship with Art2Defy which would begin as soon as possible. Following the end of the second semester, the opportunity will be provided to travel to our headquarters in New York and meet the staff as well as experience what running a nonprofit in NYC is like.
The internship will provide the student with excellent field-marketing skills as well as business/negotiation skills and management/ED techniques and hands-on opportunities.
Responsibilities- Create signage, newsletters, email campaigns, online promotions, etc.
- Provide support to social media efforts to target new audiences.
- Assist with campaigns and special events to promote the organization and increase awareness/support
- Collaborate on team presentations
Requirements- Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Marketing
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Possess creativity, flexibility, variety, and growth potential.
- Should be open-minded, a fast learner, enthusiastic, and adaptable.
