The Marketing intern will execute strategies for communication and promotion of SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) programs and services to CPD target audiences, including SUNY System Administration, SUNY organizations, and SUNY campuses in support of the CPD Strategic Plan.


Create a marketing plan for the CPD in support of the CPD strategic plan; including listservs, social media outlets, and other forms of communications.

Coordinate the production and distribution of print promotional materials for CPD programs and services.

Establish an information system for maintaining CPD contacts to be used for electronic communication

Work with CPD staff to determine how CPD utilizes SUNY listservs, the SUNY Learning Commons, and social media channels for promotion of CPD programs and services and provide a regular flow of information and announcements to CPD target audiences

Design and maintain a CPD campus membership packet for use with new and renewing campus members

Investigate the marketing platform within the EventsAir registration system used by the CPD.


Education: Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program or Graduate Student (Disciplines to include: english, marketing, public relations, communications, business administration)

o Writing and messaging for promotional and marketing purposes
o Production of electronic and print promotional materials
o High degree of proficiency with multiple and current forms of social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
o Understanding of or experience in using a contact management or customer relationship management (CRM) system
o Experience coordinating and leading projects requiring inputs from multiple people in a variety of roles

o Proficiency in using design software to develop promotional materials
o Strong verbal and written communication skills required
o Ability to work effectively in a team environment
o Project management skills
