Description

This internship is designed to help you get a head start on your career, and we're accepting applications on a rolling basis.

This highly structured 12 week internship will enable you to know the ins and outs of a fast-paced and results-oriented social media marketing and communications nonprofit. We will provide training on messaging, analytics, hashtags, event marketing, blogging, live-tweeting and more in this unpaid internship.

This part-time position based in Menlo Park, California provides on-the-job training and exciting career experience. This position doesn't require you to be in the office everyday, and there are co-working opportunities with a colleague in Berkeley, California. Much of the internship can be done remotely. About Us: Social Media for Nonprofits (SM4NP) is a nonprofit that provides social media marketing training to NGOs all over the world through our wide variety of digital and live events. Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Curate content on SM4NP many social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, beefing up YouTube, Wikipedia, including developing a new LinkedIn community
Engage with followers to encourage conversation and participation in social media marketing and communications related topics, and respond to questions and concerns reactively
Develop and refresh collateral and creative content
Monitor and measure marketing and communications activities and develop weekly and monthly reports
Support the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy including writing blog posts, developing a conferences calendar and pitching speaking opportunities, and researching awards and other relevant opportunities for SM4NP and its experts
Support SM4NP media relations efforts including developing a monthly placement report, drafting and placing bylined articles in target publications, researching letters to the editor and opinion editorial opportunities, etc.
Support marketing efforts of Business Development and Client Engagement Solutions teams, including creating materials and conducting market research
Support the development of a new internal communications strategy and webinar program
Support content development on SM4NP blogs and e-newsletter, including creating and managing an editorial calendar

Requirements

-Strong written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and organizational skills a must
-A true desire to learn and dedication to the internship, including a commitment to coming in on time and working hard
-Currently studying marketing, communications, PR, journalism, English, creative writing OR experience in the above fields preferred (Do not need to be a student or have a degree to apply)
-Ability to work independently and manage high-detail, deadline-sensitive projects with professional quality
-Team player attitude, demonstrated by being flexible and responsible as well as being a self-starter
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-Must be eligible to work in the US
