DescriptionThe Mid-Hudson Civic Center is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to providing cultural, recreational and educational opportunities to the Hudson Valley. The Civic Center is a dual venue comprised of Mair Hall and McCann Ice Arena that also owns and operates Ice Time Sports Arena in Newburgh NY, and Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center in Sugar Loaf, NY. The performance halls are capable of hosting a wide variety of events, including concerts, trade shows/expos, banquets, theater shows, meetings/conferences, assemblies, family events, and parties/dances while the Ice Arenas serve youth organizations, leagues and individuals for both recreational and competitive figure skating and ice hockey, and offers ice slots, group and private lesson, public skating sessions and private parties.
This internship is an opportunity for a student or less experienced marketer/designer to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of event promotion, marketing, and design at prominent local non-profit. This is a great opportunity to work directly with Marketing Director, President, Controller, as well as with many different clients on upcoming event projects that can include social media and online promotion, ad design, and some web development. Flexible schedule (six months and is 3-4 days per week) and is for school credit only, an interest in and/or experience working for a non-profit organization preferred.
Responsibilities- Assist in creation of signage, newsletters, email campaigns, online promotions, image editing, etc.
- Assist with trade shows and special events to promote company and increase attendance.
- Research and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials.
- Collaborate on team presentations for management and clients.
- Assist in social media marketing, blogging, content generation and SEO, and Provide support to social media efforts to target new audiences.
- Assist in donation request fulfillment and client/ customer communication
- Maintain tracking report of public relations activity
- And other day to day small business operations
RequirementsSeeking an undergraduate student who is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations looking to receive credit for internship. This person should be open-minded, enthusiastic, and adaptable with excellent verbal and written communication skills, graphic and design skills, be fluent in PC and MAC, be Facebook and Twitter active (experience with Google Adwords and Analytics a plus) and have experience with Indesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator. Portfolios will be considered.
