DescriptionemPower magazine, an online news site that focuses on social issues (health, education, environmental, political and economical) facing people of African descent in American and globally, is seeking a Marketing Internship to help increase the magazine's brand through social networking and local media, and foster relationships.
This is a telecommuting/virtual internship, which will require between 6-12 hours per week, including weekly Skype conference calls and monthly in-person meetings. All candidates must be in the Washington DC Metro Area.
We are looking for Spring, Summer and Fall interns who can commit to at least six months. Although this internship is for college credit, the intern who get this position and is successful at getting sponsors for emPower events and content will receive 15% commission of the sponsorships dollars received.
ResponsibilitiesAs an intern, your role is to regularly updating and monitoring all of emPower magazine's social media sites (such as Facebook and Twitter); writing blog posts; and helping create online media strategies to educate the public about emPower magazine and its mission. Other duties include:
-Craft press releases
-Research and correspond with potential partners and sponsors
-Creating and updating media list
-Develop marketing campaigns
-Help market emPower events
