Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Social Media Specialist will ensure that the Fair's social media channels are actively engaging the target market, and meeting the Fair's strategy for public communications. In conjunction with the website, and other public relations messages they will use several different social media platforms to increase awareness, drive patronage, and consistently articulate the Stafford County Agricultural Fair's offerings. The Marketing Director will work closely with the Fair Chairman, and the Event, Agricultural & LHA Directors as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.

Working as the Social Media Specialist for the fair will leave this intern with a resume that shows their ability to develop and manage a Social Media marketing campaign for a business or project, giving real world credentials and experience.


• Develop, manage and schedule posts on several different platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, Tumbler, Instagram) with a target of
- Increasing followership on each channel
- connecting with both audences who have attended the event, and those who have never heard of it, with the purpose of increasing Patronage of the event
- Connect with businesses to both thank and maintain past sponsorships, and encourage or develop new sponsorships
• Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action on the various social media channels, deciding to whom, where, and when to disseminate on a daily basis
• Put engagement vehicles in place (contests, challenges, etc) to create momentum and awareness as well increase followership and patronage
• Track and measure the level of engagement across different channels and establish new social media presence as needed
• Maintain a consistent presence that not only generates interest in the Fair, but establishes our channels as 'Relevant' and 'Meaningful' to our followers/audience on a day to day basis


For this important Volunteer position we are seeking a student in or close to the Stafford / Fredericksburg VA. area, who has a desire to improve/develop their communications & marketing experience in the field. Some experience or training covering areas such as website content or management or development, newsletters, and donor communications is helpful. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through varying social media channels is critical. The perfect fit applicant will have:

• Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including Fair Committee and board members, volunteers, sponsors, donors, program participants, and other supporters
• Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
• Provide links to 1-3 social networking profiles to demonstrate interest and knowledge
