DescriptionWGBH is public service media for New England--on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. WGBH is the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. WGBH is a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
The WGBH Internship Program is designed to help students and the organization meet our mutual educational goals. 'GBH wants to provide students with real work experience. In return, we will build excellent relationships with different educational institutions and create a large resource pool of young, diverse talent.
WGBH's nightly local news program Greater Boston tackles the region's top news stories with original reporting and comprehensive analysis. Host Emily Rooney's discussions with guests from diverse perspectives take viewers beyond the day's headlines. On Fridays, Greater Boston zooms in on the week's news and newsmakers with Beat The Press, a roundtable discussion scrutinizing and celebrating the media.
ResponsibilitiesAre you passionate about news? Do you possess superb writing and editorial abilities? Put your interests and skills to practice as an intern with Greater Boston. This internship is an opportunity to learn the intricacies of putting together a daily news program. Interns will assist the staff with a variety of administrative and production tasks, including brainstorming story ideas, research, and interview preparation.
RequirementsInterns should have excellent research, writing and organizational skills, in addition to a good work ethic. A candidate should also possess the ability to work independently, take initiative, and must be able to function in a fast paced environment. The work schedule is flexible and will be determined on an individual basis. A commitment of 15-20 hours a week is preferred.
WGBH Internship Requirements:
1. WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university
2. Internships are unpaid.
