We are looking for virtual (unpaid) interns, who will help us with content production on these topics:

Congress
The White House and the federal Executive Branch
The Supreme Court and federal courts
Economy and Municipal Bonds
Local Puerto Rico issues
In addition, we welcome applicants looking to work in social media, graphic design and web development.

Compensation
Pasquines is run by volunteers, so unfortunately we are unable to offer pay at this time. We will however help you obtain college credit if so desired.

Deadline
ASAP. We accept interns on a rolling basis, and therefore there is no hard deadline.

Length
We are looking for interns for 6 month and 1 year terms, eligible to be renewed based on your interest and our needs.

Responsibilities

These interns will assist with news coverage. This includes helping to report, research and write breaking news and long-form journalism, including features, analyses, personality profiles, Q&As, among others. The interns will also help the staff by monitoring newswires, competitors’ sites and social media to identify trends and formulate news stories.

Interns will be expected to contribute at least one story per week depending on the topic area assigned. They should expect to work around 2 hours per week, depending on the topic and functions assigned.

Qualifications

A passion for politics, public affairs, writing and reporting
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Outstanding attention to detail
Skilled in building successful relationships internally and externally
Ability to work and adapt to change in a fast paced environment
Flexible, open minded and forward thinking
Willing and open to learning and to new ideas
Ability to work independently and take initiative but also work well with coworkers in a team environment
Internet savvy and passionate about digital media
