DescriptionWe are offering unpaid internships to all students interested in research, politics, communications, or Hispanic/Latino studies. Our office is located in Coconut Grove and we are flexible with students' schedules. Day-to-day duties include compiling research, making PowerPoints, editing video, attending client meetings, planning community events, among many other things. We always have a variety of projects going on, so projects can be tailored to fit the students' needs and/or interests.
Student Will Learn:
• How to carry out public opinion polls as well as quantitative and qualitative research (research can include compiling background information about future and current clients, monitoring news pertaining to client interests and goals, researching, drafting poll questions, and conducting crosstab analysis).
• How to design PowerPoints and create video montages using Adobe Premiere to create a succinct and cohesive narrative that illustrates key findings gleaned from client research.
• How to engage in media relations (radio production, social media, print media, and television)
• Some students, if interested and capable, will learn the production ins and outs of a daily news radio talk show, The Fernand Amandi Show, on 610 WIOD.
Examples of Projects Students can expect to work on:
The majority of projects that interns will be expected to work on include various public opinion polls that are regularly conducted with news outlets such as the Miami Herald, Univision, The Washington Post, and WLRN to name a few. We are always involved in a myriad of other public opinion polls with other clients that range from political candidates to NGO’s to businesses.
Another equally important project that our interns will continue to work on is The Fernand Amandi Show on 610 WIOD, in which they transcribe portions of the show, pitch guests and new topics, and assist in the high-paced environment of daily radio production.
