Description is a new and fast growing online media startup geared towards family and community interests in the far north Dallas area including Frisco, NW Plano, McKinney, Allen, Lewisville and Little Elm community events.

We're looking for someone to help build organic traffic through the posting of community events in the areas of kids and family activities, live music, art and theater, food & dining, health, and fairs and festivals - including major seasonal events and monthly recurring local community events. The intern will assist with sourcing and posting new event information to the site's Things To Do section, including developing copy, sourcing and minor editing of images, posting events via an online CMS (Wordpress), and selecting key events to post via social media channels in order to build traffic and brand awareness in the targeted communities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong creative social marketing skills, a flair for identifying and implementing new work processes to improve content quality and organic search appeal, and a strong can-do attitude that translates into results.

In exchange the intern will learn the fundamentals of online publishing, business development, marketing, search engine optimization and more. Opportunities also existing in content development (editorial), video content development (social content for brand building), and live event management and development. In a perfect scenario, the ideal candidate could become the face of the brand while covering specific topics such as live music, community events, business, food, fashion, entertainment, etc., and building a celebrity brand while promoting the core company brand - a win-win!

This is a work-from-home position, minimum of 8 to 12 hours a week or more, depending on the interns interest and enthusiasm. Must have regular access to online connection and a personal computer to perform various online functions.

This is a non-paid position that can lead into a part-time paid position - depending on performance and results.

The company is founded and run by a longtime publishing professional with many past successes to his credit, including print and online media.


- Utilizes content management system to post local events aimed at driving organic search traffic
- Utilizes social media to engage with a community of fans/followers online to promote local events
- Coordinates online marketing and advertising campaigns
- Collaborates with internal departments on projects and assignments
- Demonstrates interest in social media and how media and communication strategies can continuously engage the online community


- Familiarity with the target market - far north Dallas areas of Frisco, McKinney, Allen, NW Plano, Lewisville and Little Elm Texas
- Provide links to 1-3 social networking profiles to demonstrate interest and knowledge
- Possesses skills in writing, presentation, interpersonal relations, and customer management
- Performs well in environment that values creativity, flexibility, and variety
- Exhibits personal qualities, such as open-mindedness, enthusiasm, and adaptability
- Prefers challenges, fast pace, new ideas, future focus, and unstructured environment
