Description

Artist Management - Music Business Internship

An ideal candidate for this position should have long-term goals of project growth in alignment with his/her own responsibilities. Love of swing, jazz, big band, lindy hop and good music a PLUS. While this is an unpaid internship, it can quickly lead to a part-time (commission) position provided the candidate generates consistently positive results. Prior experience in music business, marketing, PR, or social media strategy is preferred but is not required.

The George Gee Orchestra is a swing/jazz Big Band music project based in New York City, with over three decades of performance resume and brand recognition (http://www.GeorgeGee.com). The group tours nationally/internationally in a wide variety of venues, including universities, festivals, clubs, and private events (corporate functions, wedding receptions, charity galas, etc.). Performs regularly at popular NYC music nightspots including SWING46 Supper Club, SMALLS Jazz Club and The Rainbow Room.

The group is in need of management/marketing/PR assistance as they continue to rapidly gain momentum. Duties may include (but are not limited to) :

-Proficient in MS Word & Excel. Adobe Creative Suite & other photo editing software is a plus.
-Be able to demonstrate good writing and people skills
-Open to new ideas, initiatives & projects
-Social and comfortable with working independently/visiting places independently
-Online Marketing Management
-Maintaining accurate data on key social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Develop new strategies to target specific fan bases
-Assist in working to build, create & manage social media campaigns
-Interacting with bands, artists & fans, both online and LIVE.
-Reaching out to promoters and local music scenes
-Helping in the design of show posters, banners and other graphics for online use
-Research new ways to promote via social media
-Develop media/press lists
-Clerical work
- Researching booking agents, event planners, wedding planners, music promoters and/or charity organizations to collaborate with on clinical/performance opportunities.
- Strategic consulting on upcoming marketing/PR projects and initiatives.
- Building and managing databases with potential client contact information, marketing data, PR contacts, and other information.
- Maintaining email list as well as creating and sending out monthly newsletters.
- Networking with existing contacts to grow relationships and to create new opportunities.

NYC Residency beneficial, but not a requirement..
