Description

Instruments for Change is a small business that supports art and artists in their work to transform the world. Established in 2013, it is currently focusing on advancing two main projects. The first is ARTinerant, an initiative to get more local artists exhibiting their work in public spaces. The second is supporting the Cuban musician, Pavel Urkiza, who relocated from Spain to the United States last year. The internship will focus primarily on supporting this musician in seeking opportunities for him to perform as well as promoting his recently released documentary and accompanying CD. Because Instruments for Change is a small group, the internship offers the opportunity for a creative, highly-motivated, and resourceful intern to develop their skills in a wide array of areas supporting this independent musician.

Responsibilities

Developing venue database; contacting potential venues in US, Europe, Latin America; updating EPK and website; daily social media upkeep; attending concerts (if/when possible); logistics organization for concerts; helping prepare daily communication to fans; preparing short press/media briefs; developing local and international mailing lists and supporting communication with fans; contacting music media for dissemination; developing merchandising products; creative thinking generally.

You will be an integral part of our small team - in effect, you will become an "Instrument for Change". Social and environmental commitment are important to us. We are looking for like minded team-mates. The internship is unpaid, but you will receive a fair commission on any show you book, regardless of the size. If and when possible, we will find ways to support you financially or otherwise, but cannot promise any fixed amount. The main take away will be experience and a stellar reference when you're done.
