DescriptionDestination Artists Touring Agency is a New York City based booking agency directing the live touring careers of its musicians and artists. Despite the changes in how artists deliver content to fans, DATA believes the platform of powerful live performances cannot be replaced by any other form. With our appreciation for live music, DATA works closely with every client to ensure they connect with their fans and positions them to create new ones. The agency understands the vital role agents play in securing shows for both the artist and event producer. Our bookings are successful because DATA manages the engagement from the initial offer through the performance.
Part of this job is to continuously search for new talent - and we are currently looking for an intern who can assist us in discovering new acts. We are looking for interns who are passionate about music and who pride themselves on their ability to discover new acts before they've broken into the "mainstream". Ideal candidates would be able to commit to at least 2 full days (10am – 6pm) a week - and would be organized, responsible, and able to multi-task projects. This internship is unpaid but can be offered for school credit.
ResponsibilitiesCreate maintain spreadsheets used to track artist progress
Attend live shows at clubs, showcases, concerts, and other venues.
Constantly monitor top blogs, magazines & radio stations for hit songs & tracks
Visit artist website’s and social networking sites to evaluate artists reach and overall popularity
Create and deliver weekly scouting reports highlighting new talent that could be commercially viable for the company
RequirementsMust be NYC Based
Must be enrolled in a 4-year college
Strong knowledge of current and future trends in music, music business, and pop culture
General understanding of today’s major record labels (what they do and the types of artists they sign)
General understanding of today’s major talent agencies (what they do and the types of artists they sign)
Strong knowledge of major music blogs – specifically one’s that are known for featuring/breaking new talent
SkillsRequired - Organization, Social Media Communications, Social Media Monitoring, Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred - A&R, Reliable, Self-motivated Team Player
