501c3 Non-profit coalition seeks motivated interns to help drive TeleMedicine initiativesBookmark This
TeleMedia Strategy Group
DescriptionTeleMedia Strategy Group (www.telemediastrategy.com) is a different kind of consulting company. While we may serve six different "industries", we have a single specialty: Convergence. We believe that the disruption occurring across Telecommunications, Entertainment, Media, Gaming, Healthcare, and eCommerce as those industries converge is so profoundly game-changing that the emergence of entirely new forms of business is already underway. Are YOU Ready?
If so, join us in shaping the future. We have been engaged by a national healthcare company to develop and launch an independent 501c3 non-profit coalition whose stated mission is to:
“Help progress the state-of-the-art of TeleMedicine and encourage its adoption by forming a coalition of healthcare providers, industry experts, and corporate sponsorship so as to share needs, knowledge, techniques, and technologies across the globe so as to do the most good for the most people no matter where they may be.”
Our current activities include launching a national organization, several regional chapters, and an on-line thought leadership portal (digital magazine) where the latest news, technologies, trends, and regulatory issues can be shared with our sponsors, members, industry experts, and government officials.
Hence, internship opportunities abound - which could lead to paid employment in the future. So whether your interests lie in: 1) advanced biomedical advances, 2) cloud-based healthcare applications, 3) the transition from an institutional to home healthcare delivery model, 4) government financial and regulatory issues, 5) technical writing and journalism, 6) marketing and advertising (including social media), or 7) business management, you'll be given plenty of opportunities to explore, learn, and most importantly CONTRIBUTE to making the world a better place for thousands of patients across the nation and eventually internationally.
Mentored by world-class thought leaders and industry experts (including a world-renowned data analytics professor from Oxford) you'll be given real responsibilities for developing a piece of the business. From industry research to actual TeleMedicine program implementations, the possible areas you could IMPACT are limited only by your own aspirations, experience, and determination.
There is significant room for you to grow a career within the industry. TeleMedicine is only now beginning to hit its stride. In 2010, BCC Research predicted that the telemedicine market will be worth some $23 billion in 2015 compared to $9.8 billion in 2010. The company's analysts estimate that the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 18.6 percent over the next 5 years. As recently as December 2012, the US Government announced $400M in new funding for TeleMedicine networks to add to the $Billions already spent on improving Healthcare in general. Perhaps now's a good time to think about if this opportunity is really for you. Are YOU Ready?
ResponsibilitiesDepending on your skills, aspirations, and passion, you'll be assigned to participate in one of the following steering committees:
1) Sponsorship, 2)Membership, 3) Thought Leadership, 4) Market Development, 5) Member Services, or 6) Technology.
Under the guidance of a Sr.-level executive, each committee will develop a strategy, approach, plan, timeline, and other deliverables related to their specific part of the coalition and work collaboratively with other committees to ensure alignment and fit into the overall organization.
Once the organization is up and running, committee members will perform the day-to-day operations (potentially as a paid employee) of their respective areas - servicing their individual constituencies and optimizing their processes and outcomes.
This may be your opportunity to get into an industry in its infancy - on the ground floor, with nowhere to go but up. Yes, you'll be coming in at entry-level but you will be given real responsibilities - with real outcomes dependent upon the work you do. You CAN make a difference. That's why we're all here. Are YOU ready?
RequirementsWe're looking enthusiastic people looking to really make a difference. You should possess both appropriate coursework and an internal passion, in addition to a can-do attitude in one or more of the following areas:
1) advanced biomedical advances, 2) cloud-based healthcare applications, 3) the transition from an institutional to home healthcare delivery model, 4) government financial and regulatory issues, 5) technical writing and journalism, 6) marketing and advertising (including social media), or 7) business management.
You should be adept at conducting research, quantifying results, forming a position, and producing documentation to defend your opinions. You need to be a team player, detail-oriented, a great communicator, and customer-focused. In many ways, we are a bridge between local Healthcare providers and the related agencies in Washington so being able to adroitly switch from one constituency to another is important.
We will be working with both standard Office applications as well as some advanced TeleMedicine and Telecommunications technology so a well-rounded background in application of such technology is essential. We will also producing web portals and social media sites so a background in Graphic Design, Content Management Systems, HTML, and/or CSS would be really great. Video production experience would be beyond great.
