DescriptionMet Council is one of New York’s top human service agencies helping 100,000 New Yorkers
fight poverty each year. Our services include crisis intervention, legal and immigration assistance, benefits outreach
and enrollment, kosher food pantries and vouchers, career training and assistance, domestic
violence counseling, affordable housing, home care, and home repairs.
This internship will specifically focus on our our housing department where we provide housing for seniors and formerly homeless mentally ill individuals. Housing tenant applicants need to meet eligibility requirements to qualify for our housing and we need an intern to help determine eligibility.
All of our internship provide access to Met Council executive staff, team meetings and trainings.
ResponsibilitiesTo log applications for four housing sites into excel then be able to analyze the information after the interview. This information will be imported into our database for the waiting list.
1. Review and analyze housing applications
2. Use excel to log in applications
3. Communicate with Assistant Director at Council Towers regarding changes since time of application
After this internship the intern will walk away with an understanding of affordable housing in NYC as well as an increased knowledge of Excel.
Requirements• Knowledge of Russian
• Must have experience and expertise in Excel and Outlook
