DescriptionThe Humane League is a 501(c)3 animal advocacy organization that works to protect all animals through public education, campaigns and rescue. We have staffed offices serving the greater metro regions of Philadelphia, Boston, Maryland, New York City, Dallas, and Charlotte and our work for animals extends nationwide. We invest our time, money and energy where they will do the most good for the greatest number of animals. As a result, our primary focus is on farmed animal issues. Farmed animals represent over 98% of the animals used and killed in the United States, and because they are excluded from state anti-cruelty laws they suffer intensely on today's "factory farms."
The Humane League frequently hosts interns for periods of one to six months. Interning with the Humane League is a great way to gain valuable job experience in the non-profit field while at the same time helping to create a more compassionate world for animals.
All interns must be available for at least one month, 15 hours a week for part-time interns, and up to 40 hours a week for full-time. All internships are unpaid. Our Dallas office can offer free housing to full-time interns who can commit to a minimum of two months.
ResponsibilitiesAs an intern, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects, including:
Networking with major players in the animal protection movement
-Raising awareness by leafleting and tabling at festivals and concert venues
-Distributing animal advocacy literature around the city
-Securing media coverage and supporting our social media
-Working with restaurants and cafes to implement new vegan items on the menu
-Organizing and attending a diverse array of fundraising events
-Performing research for our ongoing campaigns
The Humane League is a very active animal advocacy organization, so you will be working on a wide variety of projects that require your dedication and hard work.
There are no deadlines for internship applications. We accept applications year-round and review applications as they arrive. To apply for an internship position in our Dallas office, please send resume and an introductory email to Ethan@thehumaneleague.com
