DescriptionProvide service to clients of the food pantry; receive food for the pantry and distribute to eligible clients; assist supervisor with providing Educational/Nutritional workshops and other self-sufficiency oriented programs; assist with holiday programs as decided upon by appropriate agency representatives; assist Family Stability students during pantry hours; assists with providing Nutrition classes for the public
I. Key Responsibility Area: Assist with Choice Pantry services (30%)
Performance Standards: Assist with ordering of sufficient amount of nutritious food for pantry clients from providing sources, and coordinate with donor sources; assist with appropriate storage of food pantry cleanliness, and proper distribution of food; assist with flow of client services during pantry hours; assist with preparing monthly reports and other statistical documentation; assist with processing and maintaining VCM documentation.
II. Key Responsibility Area: Assist with management of staff volunteers (including mature workers) and students (30%)
Performance Standards: Assist with planning, direction, and coordination to execute programs, nutrition classes and educational/nutritional workshops; assist with managing qualified staff volunteers, including students and mature workers, by providing ongoing supervision of pantry assistants and volunteers by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, provide orientation/training to new volunteers/staff, and provide ongoing training, as needed; problem solves with pantry assistants and volunteers as needed and mediates disputes if required; appropriately notifies Pantry Supervisor regarding issues in this area.
III. Key Responsibility Area: Assists with providing short-term case management (10%)
Performance Standards: Assists with providing short-term case management support to pantry clients during pantry hours, providing referrals and/or linkage to community resources; facilitate referral to long-term FSS case management services as needed.
IV. Key Responsibility Area: Assist with providing community outreach and program development (20%)
Performance Standards: Assist with engaging in community outreach activities for volunteer development and recruitment of Choice Pantry volunteers; collaborate with Pantry Supervisor to identify community partners and develop educational groups that lead client toward self-sufficiency, such as nutritional food choices; job readiness, financial management, parenting skills development, healthy relationships, etc; participate on planning committees for special programs such as Holiday Help-A-family and Santa’s Shop that support pantry and FSS services.
V. Key Responsibility Area: Teamwork and Professional Growth (10%)
Performance Standards: Active participation in team process during meetings and informal processes or projects provided; issues for discussion brought to team or appropriate team member for discussion; participation in ongoing evaluation process of the program provided; supervision toward professional development sought; own professional development assured by attendance at workshops, trainings and by literature review; attitude and approach of “team player” demonstrated.
RequirementsWorking toward an Associates or Bachelors degree in social work, culinary arts, hospitality management or related field
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to communicate with pantry clients and build relationships
Ability to network with other persons or agencies to meet client needs/goals
Ability to plan creatively and collaboratively with volunteers and referring agencies
